A Midsummer Night’s Dream

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is back!

After the successful East Netherlands tour, this hallucinatory theater spectacle can now be seen in the rest of the country. Theater Oostpool, dance company Introdans, Phion, Orchestra of Gelderland & Overijssel and Musis & Stadstheater join forces again and take you through the most original Shakespeare you have ever seen. With more than 35 performers on stage, you can count on an evening full of color, exuberance, humor and all in a brand new adaptation in today’s language.

The romantic comedy Midsummer Night’s Dream is set in 1600s Athens, where life is mainly about being productive. There has been a ban on sleeping in the city for thirty years. In search of freedom and intimacy, four young lovers try to escape this rule imposed by older generations and flee into the woods. There they fall asleep for the first time. Surrounded by mythical forest creatures and a group of actors, they surrender to the intoxicating forces of imagination, life and love.

Whether you are an experienced Shakespeare visitor or visiting a theater for the first time, Midsummer Night’s Dream is an experience you don’t want to miss.
