The French philosopher Hippolyte Taine stated that the artist’s genius cannot be the greatest creative force behind the artist, because it is subject to the components of race, environment, and moment. With this montage performance, students with very different educational backgrounds give form to their future, ambitions, and ideals, as well as to their way of handling infinite possibilities.
A thousand items on one kilometre of steel wire. To counterbalance this chaos is a clear form: a frame with fluorescent lights that drops down, and is later lifted up vertically. The space represents the endless possibilities of life, an enchanting playground and at the same time a crippling tangle, or a threatening jungle. A frozen explosion; not a location, but a mental space.
